Accessibility statement
Stay Gazette should be readable and usable by everyone. We build the paper to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. Last updated 5 September 2026.
What we do
Semantic HTML with one heading structure per page; a skip-to-content link; a visible keyboard focus on every link, button and field; text alternatives on every meaningful image, including a plain description of each illustration; colour contrast that meets AA on text and controls; labelled form fields; support for the browser's reduced-motion and text-resize settings; and pages that reflow to any screen without loss of content. Reading pages carry an on-page contents list so long stories can be navigated by section.
Known limitations
This is a small, independent publication and some areas are still improving. Stories filed before September 2026 carry shorter image descriptions than newer ones, and some decorative motion on the front page may not yet fully meet our target. We fix issues as we find them and as readers report them.
How we test
Pages are checked with keyboard-only navigation, a screen reader (NVDA on Windows), browser accessibility audits, and an automated scan before every release.
