Standards Editor · The standards desk

Eleanor Quist

Eleanor runs the standards desk, which every story passes through before publication. Her job is the specifics: every number, date, name, quotation, dollar figure and ruling in a draft is checked against the source material, and anything that cannot be traced is removed or rewritten as background before the piece runs. She also handles corrections. Readers who spot an error write to her, and the correction is noted on the story.
